The biggest mistake your founding fathers was assuming that only people with integrity would seek political office. Second mistake making it next to impossible to make amendments. Third mistake electing judges and bureaucrats ie. attorney generals all the way down to dog catcher.

There is no other functioning democracy that gives that much power to their leaders. Your military is ignoring their duty to not follow illegal orders. Your constitution giving the president the power to pardon is a huge mistake.
