i notice i am also struggling with the short-form nature of the text on this platform. i never used twitter, so this is a new and strange restriction for me.

a re-imagined version of the Lucretia painting done in watercolor and pen, where Lucretia's bare chest instead has the scars of top surgery, and the dagger is being pulled away from it.

two years ago, i was transfixed in front of this 1545 painting of Lucretia at a museum.
i kept imagining the dagger as a tool of creation, as opposed to destruction.
i made the drawing, then the photo, and wrote an essay for myself about the painting, and my alternative take.
