these things shouldn't drag on for years, it undermines all parties to differing degrees, but i also don't think expediting any verdict would've been right. city have delayed at every juncture, undoubtedly, but the league made a rod for its own back not honing in on the most serious elements.

114/ industrial accident

documentary about the story of wax trax! records, a chicago-based alternative record shop and label of the 80s/90s. liked the story, the owners more than the artists. guess they spiritually had something in common with certain british labels of the same period. good. 8/10.

is a serving government being on course to finish fifth...bad? it feels quite bad.

the complete disconnect about these sort of things amongst our fanbase is extremely alarming. in any sane world there would be organised opposition, but everyone virtually to a man looks the other way. at best you'll occasionally get a half-arsed argument about something else also being bad.

it's pure shite (and i'm a big alan clarke fan generally). there's never been a good football hooligan film, but i.d is the least bad, and if you want a topless wrestle on turn moss to settle it i'll see you sunday morning.

113/ a house of dynamite

apocalyptic political thriller with idris elba and rebecca ferguson. found the first pov quite interesting, unmoved by pretty much everything else. didn't mind the ending. pretty unspectacular on the whole. not sure bigelow's done a good film since strange days. 6/10

this is a proper monday night football - port vale v county in the pissing rain. got a soft spot for vale park. never been, might be a shithole, but reminds me of the live game on granada days. always seemed to be vale, tranmere or burnley. something aesthetically pleasing about how it looks on tv.

first fifteen minutes was the most fluid we've been all season, but then villa started beating our press quite easily and got on top. second half was the standard sideways football we offer in these type of defeats. haaland largely isolated, little wide quality. villa outfought and outran us.

no real shame in a narrow defeat against a top six side with an outstanding home record, but hard to see us, even with changes, going to liverpool or newcastle and getting a positive result, and bournemouth next weekend may be tricky. still absolutely no idea whether we'll finish second or seventh.

actually thought we started brightly today, and weren't terrible in spells in the second half, but villa beat us with good old-fashioned hard work and by being extremely organised, and we don't have the real top-tier attacking quality to force something when we're outrun or outfought nowadays.

scottish football is entertaining, and people who get sniffy about it are usually bellends. there, i said it.

sad to see a good man reduced to this.
