In 2021, McConnell successfully filibustered a Democratic CR ahead of a government shutdown and forced them to accept a clean one instead. What happened this week - a total cave on a totally partisan long-term funding bill - hasn’t happened in the 20 years I’ve covered Congress.

That's exactly what the yes votes today signaled: there is no bill bad enough for us to block it.

As bad as this one is, the next one will be magnitudes worse and include all sorts of horrors.

The thing about this that absolutely kills me is that this will only embolden Republicans to stuff *even worse* stuff in future spending bills, knowing that there are enough Dems who will vote yes on cloture no matter what.
