I'm playing in a home game of Orbital Blues, and my character is a Bowie-esque glam rock star who faked his own death, but was recently forced to reveal himself. Last session he bought a fringed mask to hide his identity. So, he is essentially about to become Orville Peck.

I had to leave the game a bit early and later found out that his bedroom had been trashed so close enough 😂

I was the Explorer, Lord Humphrey Winbrook-Quair. My first act was thrusting a pound note at a beggar in a way he thought was subtle but absolutely was not.

For that reason I often include a "make up your own" option for lists or random tables to avoid that friction.

You can always say, "I do something else that's not on the list", but having to deliberately ignore the game rules to have more fun isn't ideal.

I love the VIBES of a lot of PtbA games, but I do sometimes find the moves restrictive. I find games that have narrative mechanics can step on my toes as a roleplayer. But if you are an inexperienced roleplayer I get that having those choices might be helpful.
