"but it was my childhood, it's my special interest, it's my comfort series" I don't give a shit. What about the childhood of kids getting targeted by her hateful lobbying? What about the special interests of the people who will commit suicide because of the laws she's pushing? What of their comfort?

THIS. my balance is absolute trash, always has been - and adding an ADHD brain on top where I zone out quite easily and traditional bike riding is genuinely a hazardous activity for me. would love to see more adult trikes available and at a more reasonable price point.

We Interrupt This Mood of Denial to Update COVID’s Threat | The Tyee Recent studies on long COVID and more show why, beyond vaccines, masks and air filters remain vital.

Limiting transmission is still the most important public health goal. We know how to do that but are reluctant to employ the tools. Masking and cleaning the air. Rigorous surveillance testing is also essential to inform citizens of the advancing or retreating COVID risks.

Joy Buolamwini: “We’re giving AI companies a free pass” The pioneering AI researcher and activist shares her personal journey in a new book, and explains her concerns about today’s AI systems.

“The current modus operandi of today’s AI companies is unethical—a form of ‘data colonialism,’ Buolamwini says, with a ‘full disregard for consent.’”

The Racism Black Kids Endure Is Spiraling Into a Health Crisis New research shows that although racism might not be the most common type of discrimination, it had the greatest impact on teens.

Racism is weathering Black Americans’ health, driving health disparities from anxiety to heart disease and cancer. And, it’s starting at an incredibly young age, bleeding into both a mental and physical health crisis for Black youth. capitalbnews.org/racism-youth...

Alberta, if you're paying attention. The same movement is happening here. A small group of extremists want control of school boards. If they succeed, they'll move on to municipal elections. Look at the candidates in all elections and be aware of what agendas are at play.

I don't know of a Canadian equivalent but I'd say given the growing influence of USian reactionary politics, still pretty valid. The library orgs here tend to play generally neutral/Centrist to barely making any sort of stance beyond restating that 'libraries are inclusive'
