They die back through the summer. I cut them back after they have seeded and let it all start again next season. They get very little extra water and still they thrive! They work as a ground cover in spring keeping bigger and more invasive species at bay. I consider it a form of meadowscaping.

I didn’t plan for this. When I planted a few of these years ago I never would have imagined that I would grow to let them dominate this area in spring. But look at them!

After mowing, I stepped off of the mower into the light of this setting sun & a dimension of time and space that transports me to a place of calm and serenity that doesn’t exist otherwise. I am forever grateful for its existence and vow to always work to maintain its ethereal quality.
