This is the playbook, folks.
If you're not paying attention now and doing something about it, then you're going to have to sit down the rest of your life because democracy is being taken away.
Do not be quiet in this moment.

I grew up this way. We were poor.
Mom and I put in a two-acre vegetable garden every year —canning, freezing.... I raised 100 baby chicks which we butchered in the fall. We had pigs, a milk cow.
It took 5-8 acres. We still bought salt, sugar, flour....
It was damned hard work.
This is a joke.
Metaphor alert.

Question:
Dropping a bomb on a nuclear facility seems particularly foolhardy. I know Iran is saying that they've moved things to a secure location, but....
It feels like Trump didn't just start WWIII, he risked starting a nuclear chain reaction. True?

I probably should have phrased it 'in spite of what we taught.'
I see hope in the rise of independent journalists, but I read a lot. Too many don't, and we are not seeing a commitment to civic journalism on the national media, neither print or broadcast.
Instead we're seeing a dystopian movie.
I used your book — and Postman's — in my advanced mass media and society class.
I'm not sure if we were over-optimistic or naive, but they've managed to make a dystopian movie out of what we taught.
Senator Padilla was driven violently to his knees–as if made to kneel before the authority of the executive–because the administration called his questions “disrespectful”.
This should offend not just the other 99 Senators. It should offend the conscience of this country.

Not true.

I will be damned if I allow a bunch of Confederate-waving January 6th apologists give the American people a lecture on flag waving.
There is ZERO reason to enter an argument about patriotism with people who still worship traitors to America 150+ years later.

And not just platforming neo-Nazis, but ones ignorant of history. Every history department I've known have had some pretty right-wing (white, male, ofc) professors already.
But Holocaust deniers? No, ignorant isn't a diversity of viewpoints.
The author of the report posted his original charts in the comments (poster taking things out of context). And guess what, at every education level, men still make more money than women, by approximately the same margin they have for over a decade.
So why do men still make more than women?
How is the FT headline true—your whole point—when men are still making more money at apparently the same margin they have been for more than a decade?
Shouldn't that gap be the focus? Why do men w/same education make more? We still haven't fixed that?
Maybe this song isn't about you men.

has a letter from the editor this morning about covering the George Floyd protests. It's... interesting.
I was nodding along, until the editor gets to what the newspaper should have done differently. Judge for yourself. (Link in comments.)
I have a different take....
