My first edible wild mushroom: This impressive specimen of a Russula Xerampelina aka Shrimp Russula! 🦐

As one my guess, the most obvious tell is its distinctive shrimpy odour, but I also made sure its other identifiers were correct, such as lacking a peppery taste.

In the same area as the previously posted Fly Agaric, there were several of these similar poisonous Amanitas, specifically those of the Amanita Pantherina variety aka Panther Amanita.

I’m no expert but I’m pretty confident it is.

Several sulphur yellow mushrooms upon the ground, likely members of Tricholoma Sulphureum.

I also came across these yellow mushrooms which had an obnoxious and unpleasant odour - like rotten turmeric to me.

The pungent smell combined with their sulphur yellow appearance leads me to believe I likely encountered Tricholoma Sulphureum aka The Stinker! 😷

Whilst out today with some friends I was excited to encounter this large specimen of the classic poisonous mushroom - Amanita Muscaria aka Fly Agaric; although I had read they grow locally, I’d never actually encountered any, until now! 🍄

Several Clitocybe Rivulosa aka Clitocybe Dealbata mushrooms displayed on a black lacquer platter.

It’s likely that these local white/cream waxy mushrooms are the poisonous Sweat-producing Clitocybe (Clitocybe Dealbata / Rivulosa) as they lack any odours distinctive of other close relatives.

A local specimen of an agaricus mushroom given the chocolate-brown gills which are free from the stalk. Since the base of the stalk bruises yellow and has a strong phenol-like odour, I’m fairly confident this is likely a poisonous Flat-Top Agaricus. 🍄‍🟫

I feel skelly archers were a trope before the advent of Minecraft, but I can’t recall any specific instances (aside from Diablo). I suspect the most “logical” reason for the undead archer-type is simply they have the dexterity/cunning for archery that their zombie brethren tend to lack.

Practiced a bit of amateur mycology in identifying this local mushroom: After taking a spore print and consulting local handbooks I’m fairly confident it’s a cortinarius cinnamomeus aka a Cinnamon Cortinarius. Apparently they can be used to produce a brown dye. 🍄‍🟫
