What says leaving Vancouver more than a #redtoque, a @TheWRP4LC and a Thunderbird.

It seems a little unreal to be on my way to #AACR25 with #AACRSSP.

But here I am.

179 experts. 28 countries. 1 message:

Long COVID is real, multi-systemic, and devastating. It affects over 400 million people. And we're not prepared.

New global consensus just dropped.

Molecular Residual Disease Analysis May Predict Disease Recurrence After Lung Cancer Resection Plasma-based molecular residual disease analysis shows the potential to predict disease recurrence in lung cancer patients by 4.7 months.

What if we could detect a lung cancer patientโ€™s relapse months before itโ€™s visible on scans? A recent study in Nature Magazine sheds light on the powerful potential of molecular residual disease (MRD) analysis. #lungcancer

WHO comments on United States announcement of intent to withdraw

The World Health Organization regrets the announcement that the United States of America intends to withdraw from the Organization.
WHO plays a crucial role in protecting the health and security of the worldโ€™s people, including Americans, by addressing the root causes of disease, building stronger health systems, and detecting, preventing and responding to health emergencies, including disease outbreaks, often in dangerous places where others cannot go.

The United States was a founding member of WHO in 1948 and has participated in shaping and governing WHOโ€™s work ever since, alongside 193 other Member States, including through its active participation in the World Health Assembly and Executive Board. For over seven decades, WHO and the USA have saved countless lives and protected Americans and all people from health threats. Together, we ended smallpox, and together we have brought polio to the brink of eradication. American institutions have contributed to and benefited from membership in WHO.

With the participation of the United States and other Member States, WHO has over the past 7 years implemented the largest set of reforms in its history, to transform our accountability, cost-effectiveness, and impact in countries. This work continues.

We hope the United States will reconsider and we look forward to engaging in constructive dialogue to maintain the partnership between the USA and WHO, for the benefit of the health and well-being of millions of people around the globe.

Wondering why online discourse is so hostile?

$10M in foreign money funding went to content creators attacking Canadian institutions, from healthcare to immigration.

And researchers say this is just the tip of the iceberg.

We need a real overhaul - but it is possible. I feel optimistic that 2025 can bring about far more transparency, accountability, and most importantly accessibility to our health system. www.cma.ca/about-us/wha...

'Astronomical' hold queues on year's top e-books frustrate readers, libraries | CBC News More than 1,000 people are waiting to borrow the Ottawa Public Library's most popular e-book of 2024, and librarians say inflated prices and restrictive e-book publishing practices are responsible.

Print vs digital distribution is badly broken and it is making it hard for libraries to match demand.

But it is just a bunch of bits and bytes. Per copy pricing is a ridiculous way to approach it.
