Shamefully late to this epic fantasy party, here's my review of Hall of Bones by @timhardieauthor.bsky.social

Spiderlight is another incredible book from @aptshadow.bsky.social 🕷️
I can’t believe how much I cared for a spider in human form, but then again, I shouldn’t be surprised.
This is a fantastic standalone for DnD & classic quest lovers (with a twist): fanfiaddict.com/review-spide...

“Intensely uncanny, white-knuckle tense, wholly unnerving, Trad Wife by Sarah Langan was one that I basked in the unremitting, methodic, apron-clad dread of. Ballerina farm meets “A King in Yellow,” meets Shirley Jackson.”

The Price of Fear is an absolute master stroke of a debut. Lyon has some of the most polished prose & engaging characters of any book, let alone debut, I’ve ever read. Perfect for fans of @misterkristoff.bsky.social & @zbsteele.bsky.social, & honestly, any grimdark piece of literature pubbed to date

“Trad Wife,” by @saratogaishere.bsky.social is, beneath its sourdough crust and all that gingham, politically engaged, quite rightly enraged and genuinely highly entertaining and cathartic in its excess.

Up at FanFiAddict this Monday morning, my review of Matt Dinniman's upcoming stand-alone title, OPERATION BOUNCE HOUSE! This one hits awfully close to home given our present-day American dystopian, but it's overarching message is a soothing balm for the soul. #booksky

The Fisherman is a tragic tale of two men's grief, the passion for fishing that bonds them, and the price they're willing to pay for what they want. With a deep sense of myth & foreboding, this is a dark tale I liked, with some caveats.

“A novel that cares not about being liked, but being felt, absorbed and endured, finished in a quiet state of ruin, “Wretch,” by @ericlarocca.bsky.social succeeds in all that it sets out to do, and for the record, I happened to like it too.”

"If you take anything away from his story, let it be this: Neither gods nor blood decide who rules. The people do. Understood?"
“And yes, I’m aware that “this isn’t how it looks” is just about the oldest cliché in the book. I’m aware that you have a trail of bodies and the only that connects all of them is me. I’m aware of Occam’s razor.” - Extremity, Nicholas Binge
