Welcome to a new week, researchers!

We'll be hanging out in WoW: Midnight, resuming the amazing horror ride of Resident Evil: Requiem, having our first Sci-Fi Saturday with a Star Trek game, then after hours FPS action SeraCyborg, and some very inadvisable toymaking in Poppy Playtime 5!

This week we're going to be doing an earlier Saturday stream on the main channel, followed by stuff with Sera on SeraCyborg later in the evening. We'll see how things go, but I hope you'll all be able to enjoy these things with me!

We'll always have horror content, but I want to try doing more than just horror games. There's other things I really enjoy too, and I'd like to try sharing them with you all! So we're going to be experimenting with some ideas going forward.

I'm going to have the new schedule up shortly, but just wanted to give you all a heads up!

We're going to be doing some experimenting with schedule going forward!

I've been wanting to try some changes in exactly what and when we stream.

Putting together a Lego set and I have no idea why but it’s ridiculously relaxing.

Also on the skeleton front, the feet are bizarrely splayed at rest to a degree I don't think any other race's are. This might be related to why the shin guard thing is happening.

And the more I dig into it the worse it gets. Textures are frequently distorted from bad fitting, for some bizarre reason shin guards are on the side/back of the shins rather than the front, the bra graphic isn't removed on tops where it should be resulting in some laughably bad results.

They clearly mashed together Night Elf, Troll, and maybe some Orc parts for the female Haranir body, but then didn't make proper adjustments to how the armor displays/attaches. The clipping is horrifically bad on SO many transmogs. Pieces half-buried inside the body, textures slopping over, etc.

The Haranir are a very cool design overall, the models themselves are great. But the skeleton in some parts and the armor implementation is so bad that whoever's responsible should honestly feel embarassed (if I had to guess, the modelers weren't given enough time/hours on it).

One of the things that makes RE9 work so well is that while the more survival horror oriented titles have always made "use resources vs avoid the enemy" a primary choice, RE9 constantly presents choices beyond "juke and run". Each area has specific subtypes of zombie with their own ways to evade.

A Discord message from user AErchivist. The post reads: "DISCORD IS IMPLEMENTING AGE VERIFICATION MEASURES GLOBALLY IN MARCH @everyone In the latest of a series of attacks on digital privacy, Discord has announced plans to implement age verification measures globally. These are the same age verification measures introduced in the UK and Australia last year, requiring some users to provide legal ID or use facial age estimation tools to access specific features. In the interest of ensuring the information I share is as accurate as possible, you can read Discord’s official statement here: https://discord.com/press-releases/discord-launches-teen-by-default-settings-globally A few important notes, to combat any misinformation: - Not all users will be required to verify their age. Most users probably won’t. Similarly to YouTube, Discord will be utilizing an age inference model which estimates a user’s age based on their activity. - If a user is judged to be under 18 based on their activity, they will be unable to access age-restricted channels or servers, unblur spoilered images, speak on Discord stages, or access DMs from users they do not know. - Discord claims that data used to verify a user’s age will be processed on-device to ensure privacy. You shouldn’t trust this. This isn’t good. I don’t think I need to tell anyone here that. In recent years, we have witnessed a massive uptick in attacks on the digital privacy of adults worldwide, often masquerading as attempts to protect children from potentially dangerous content. Attacks that will inevitably be weaponized against marginalized communities and voices. That will silence political discontent. That will be used to monitor and punish our online activities. This is how a surveillance state starts."

"WHAT CAN WE DO? The only thing a company like Discord cares about more than maintaining an active user base is making a profit. I heavily encourage folks to cancel their Nitro subscriptions. Stop giving them your money. You can also voice your displeasure directly to Discord support. "SO, WHAT ARE THE ALTERNATIVES? I do not plan on leaving Discord. Not yet, anyway. And I’ll be honest, I am in a unique position. I’ve already been investigated by the FBI for my activities as a content creator. The government knows who I am, where I live, and what I do. So does any company that’s paying me. I don’t have much privacy left to protect. On top of that, I am just one disabled creator on the internet. My time and capacity are limited. Posting on half a dozen platforms just isn’t viable for me without delegating tasks to my moderators, who are also people with their own lives. I want to work on establishing the means to make more platforms viable - no one platform will ever be truly safe, after all - but it will take time, energy, and more hands than we currently have. I ask, again, that people do not give up on Discord just yet. But if you’d like to establish an alternative means of keeping up with my activities and engaging with the community, here are the options: Stoat I am currently working on building a backup of the server on Stoat, but it will take time, as Stoat is not as well established of a platform yet.
