I explicate how gender-based needs are held hostage by paternalistic social policies, and how masculinist entrenchment normalises punitive violence under the guise of masculinist protection.

I argue that authoritarian populism as a political imagination not only operates through its polarising logic but also paralyses thought processes for alternative imaginations and entraps people in its mind-confusing maze, which I reveal as #slowviolence

I introduce a nuanced analytical framework that explores gendered violence, anti-gender politics, and authoritarian populism through a relational lens - not as isolated issues, but as deeply intertwined forces shaping everyday life.

There is a need to embrace discomfort and build spaces for intersubjective dialogue. I believe the ongoing democratic resistance in Turkey can facilitate (intersubjective) recognition between different contexts, which can pave the way for alternative political imaginations across the globe.

Using Turkey as a case study, I show how authoritarian populism operates and how public resistance demonstrates the potential for alternative political imaginations.
