That the government have not sought to regulate this simply opens up those not familiar with this domain to unnecessary risk. There is some legislation that protects people from making trust-based decisions to some extent (e.g. GDPR), but this area is distinguished by the paucity of any regulation.

No I don't think it's "pretty weird":

1) They're completely different domains.
2) When I hand over ID in a store, they look, and then they give it back - it doesn't get stored somewhere where it becomes at risk, and nobody makes money from the check itself.

Poor choice of headline by the BBC - it is not just porn sites where this is being implemented; the article itself states that Reddit is one social media platform among many. The UK public's access to information has been severely curtailed overnight.

I know that some meets of this type do happen, but they are almost always confined to individual circles that can be hard for others to access. I'd suggest that different activities open to all would bring a new level of vitality to the UK scene in general.

Something I have increasingly reflected on is how bar-centric UK fur meets are.

I wish UK regional meets would consider more US-style diversity: going to parks, bowling, shopping, shows, concerts - the list goes on. I don't mind bars, but they are far less interesting than other activities.

Today I climbed the A Mountain and went to Scottsdale and the Fashion Square Mall!

I am heading home this evening, after a fantastic weekend.

I had an amazing dinner yesterday in Scottsdale with @tylerthefox.com and the generosity of @kytiger.bsky.social.

MAGA relies on conspiracies and fabrications to justify the cult's worldview; to be told that their opinions are valid and worthwhile, no matter how poorly formed.

Now they are being told their opinions aren't valid by the cult leader.

Who knows where this could go. Probably nowhere good.

I think there is a problem for the US polity, in that the MAGA base has been conditioned to embrace conspiracy theories.

With Epstein, they were promised the ultimate validation of such a theory. Now that they can't have it, they are not too pleased. And nobody knows how to handle that.

Always enjoyable to be eaten whenever, as well. :P
