Do you need an appointment? It depends. You need an appointment for these services: first-time driver license, including knowledge and skills testing; first-time identification card; enhanced driver license or I.D.; reinstatement and testing; name change on license or I.D.; commercial driver license or commercial learner permit, including knowledge test; agricultural permit and testing; and occupational restricted license. Go online to dol.wa.gov for the following: renew driver license or I.D.; renew car or boat registration; renew professional license; pre-apply for driver license, I.D., or enhanced license or I.D.; change address on license or I.D.; replace lost or stolen license or I.D.; add motorcycle permit or endorsement; buy a copy of your driving record; submit D.U.I. hearing request; and report sale of vehicle or boat.
Why visit us in person if you don't need to? While a trip can't be avoided for some licensing needs, many services are available online.
If an office visit is required, skip the line by making an appointment at dol.wa.gov.
