Trump says greenhouse gases are not a threat, proposing to greenlight fossil fuel pollution from cars, trucks, planes, coal plants and well anything that wrecks the climate. He is throwing a bomb at the core EPA rule that says that the Clean Air Act controls greenhouse emissions.

What if I truly feel that men need permission from their mothers & wives before getting surgery or opening bank accounts? Is that a worthwhile policy to entertain?

What if I truly feel that the only wine worth drinking is sparkling rose?

What do feelings have to do with with how things truly are?

How much experience & credibility do you need to have to critique something?

What is the least amount of credibility someone has to bring to the table to be taken seriously?

I ask because I see criticisms from people who don’t even donate to campaigns - let alone win them - have opinions.

Agree and say you’ll make it go through with 61 votes, and then go home the day of the vote.

You know like how senate republicans keep going back on their promises.

What does that look like?
Do we have a military? A Bank? A Currency? Which states are part of the blue state union? Is it bicoastal as one union or just individual states?

This is weird fatalistic nonsense that is poorly thought out and is a distraction from the one thing we need to focus on.

Very this! It also just just makes this weird assumption of “natural law” as if whole communities, ecosystems and cultures aren’t erased by the swing of a pendulum.

There are people, places and opportunities we will never see again after this administration.

I’ve been on the internet too long and I am resisting the urge to include a million links and every exception, or caveat - but the point stands - it’s weird and wrong to say because we had healthcare and a black president we get facism. And eventually that will just fade away from natural causes.

There is this idea about “pendulum swings” that concerns me because it implies this “natural inevitability” and “natural movement to moderate positions.”

This misses death & other consequences of far right governments, and disregards the work & sacrifices it takes to remove them.

The Trump Team's plans to exploit public lands follow the blueprint of Reagan's Interior secretary James Watt led a similar effort to privatize natural resources for mining, energy development, logging, and sprawl.

Déjà vu all over again: 40+ years ago, Ronald Reagan's most controversial cabinet member, James G. Watt, was pushing a lot of the same anti-environment ideas that Trump 2.0 is embracing today.

I think the Bryd rule is a good - if not annoying tradition that isn’t a rule - so it gets disregarded whenever republicans feel like it.

But there is no way you’re going to actually pass anything with one topic/one vote styles - if only because there is no incentive to compromise.

People need know you care about what they care about, and how you perceive the world and whether or not you will fight for them when the moment comes.

The problem becomes - we’re over trained on sound bites, means testing / poll testing and conflict avoidance - & voters want clarity & simplicity.

If you’re going to move with the best faith and best intentions - I think it is valid for lawmakers to say an issue is a “distraction” - because often you can legislate the issue of the day.

But in campaign world, every issue matters. I had to answer questions about flying cars for volunteers.

I forgot how good the new Superman’s music is and I think I have to go see it again this weekend…

There are real tensions in progressive politics - and we don’t get to talk about them because the threats are so high, but I also assure you other people are thinking about them - unchallenged - and it’s gonna be the policy we all have to get behind even if it doesn’t help us all.

Internet and cable news debates have rotted the brains of society (or the spaces I inhabit) because it’s always: hyperbole, hyperbole, dodge the question, reframe, oversimplified but confident answer.

All packaged in 2 minutes or less. This primes folks to believe there are simple answers - 🤷🏾‍♂️

AI boosters get mad when I describe LLMs as "Spicy Autocomplete." Sure, it's a bit reductionist ("stochastic parrot" is more precise), but it's far worse for people to see LLMs as "ineffable superintelligence," as WSJ did by claiming ChatGPT expressed "self reflection." No, it didn't.

These senseless cuts to the @nws.noaa.gov will result in forecast delays that have deadly consequences.

When it comes to fires, floods, and other disasters – this endangers the lives of millions.

I'm pushing back against these cuts and fighting to protect all Californians.
