Where do the cool kids chat about fantasy these days?
09.12.2025 22:02 β π 6 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Haha I'll just have to get them into Grimdark so we're fighting over who gets to speak to her
09.12.2025 22:00 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I had a dream last night that I met @annasmithspark.bsky.social for the first time randomly in passing but my kids were crying and I had to make sure they were ok and I missed my chance to tell Anna what an amazing author she is π€£π
If you want an amazing reading experience, read her work NOW
Just incase you're an author & you've seen I was reading your book or loved the first one but never read the second, I do absolutely plan to get there!
Just had the busiest year of my life and reading has taken a back seat. Hoping to carry on reading more soon.
Unfortunately I don't see it that way π€£ too many books not enough time
08.12.2025 19:20 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0At the start of the year I made a list of 25 books I'd definitely, without a doubt read in 2025.
I read 4.
4 of them.
Sounds like a plan. Small Gods certainly appeals
07.12.2025 21:39 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That's what I'm hoping and fully feel your original recommendation of Guards Guards will be the right choice for me.
I've really enjoyed the charm, humour and thoughtful parts of the books I've read so far but I haven't adapted well to the more farfetched plot elements and pacing
Today I finished Wyrd Sisters and updated my Discworld Journey
Unfortunately I still haven't found a book in the series I love yet but this was more promising...
Wyrd Sisters - 7/10
Mort - 6.7/10
Reaper Man - 6.4/10
Hogfather - 6.2/10
What's the best novella you've ever read?
My current read is this:
Same... I want one... But π°π°π°π°

03.12.2025 18:23 β π 7 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0I found out on Friday I'd been successful in getting a promotion that I've been working really hard towards for a while now in a management role.
My leadership style has always been empathy, trust and supporting people and that won't change. I'm so excited to make a difference and start in Jan!
Moved house and I tonight unpacked my Lords of the Rings pocket editions and the box is all damaged π gutted
29.11.2025 23:34 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I paid Β£15 for The Devils by Joe Abercrombie on Gollancz's 40% off Black Friday Sale.
Today it's been reduced to Β£10 on Amazon π
Unfortunately so :(
26.11.2025 13:04 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Since moving to a house with lots of trees nearby and putting bird feeders up it's giving me such a sense of peace when I look outside and see the variety of birds and wildlife π²π
I'm seeing more tits everyday than Hugh Hefner did in the '70s πͺΆ
Happiness comes in many forms and is sometimes wrapped up by The Broken Binding π
Isn't this exquisite?

It's almost certainly completely imagined, but when it's cold and frosty in the British Isles, I really feel a sense of magic in the air outdoors.
I can't really explain it. It's probably just because I associate winter with Christmas and lights etc but I love the feeling of it - feels otherworldly
Thankyou, I'm feeling so rough
16.11.2025 08:19 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'm so fucking drunk. Help

16.11.2025 01:54 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It brings me so much joy that from the kitchen window in our new house, I can see birds nearly all day long.
I was lucky to see a pigeon now and again before.
Now it's blue tits, great tits, blackbirds, robins, thrushes, wrens, pigeons, magpies and squirrels. Hoping to see even more β€οΈ
Reaper Man is overrated; half of the book is just nonsensical.
Hogfather is hard to follow.
Death as a character is fantastic but his book series aren't as engaging as him alone...
I'm much preferring Witches and City Watch...
This stuff is just getting so deflating, so tiring.

13.11.2025 12:40 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Heard Dan Jones is writing a book on castles. There's one I'll buy the special edition of.
Just bought his Wars of the Roses special from Broken Binding and then got an email to say I'd entered my overdraft π

Look at what the post office did to bby π
