Attract mode is all about cute bunnies. It's only after you have dropped in your quarters that the true story is revealed..
You're missing out by not tuning in to the channel at the hotel that is about the hotel. So many fun facts!

Gen X would be in a much worse place had we not had our time with Maria, Mr. Looper, Big Bird and Oscar.
Joan Ganz Cooney and the CTW were given the opportunity to make something truly magical and focused on the correct outcomes.

Emptying the garage of old computer parts and seeing what still works. Haven't seen either the Windows XP boot screen or BIOS settings in at least a decade. The motherboard is a classic DFI NF4 Lan Party.

Here’s a visualization of all the curse words being used on Bluesky in real time.
Each word is a cute fluffy little profane cloud.
It’s oddly soothing.

This situation will always stand out to me as a nontrivial engineering-related task that consumed way more energy and time than I would have predicted.
22.11.2024 12:14 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I spent a lot of time composing the feedback and figuring out how to deliver it in person such that it would land. In the end, my efforts were rewarded and I was able to work with them to change their ways.

22.11.2024 12:11 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I once had to give feedback to a peer who was leaving brusque and dismissive comments on pull requests. The tone of the comments caused me to wince every time that I saw their username pop up in GitHub.

Those don't look like guard clauses to me, they feel more like business logic. What are we guarding against?
My one exception to "don't allow multiple exit points" are cases where we have no idea what the caller might send us and we need to vet it for correctness before doing the real work.
I just started a new job and found a first gen aeropress in one of the kitchen cabinets! No one is using it, it has a full set of filters, and the office has a decent gooseneck kettle.
This feels like it was a previous employee's failed experiment and I intend to take full advantage. 😀
The kid and I have spent the last two Saturdays at the Flipper Room in Concord, CA having a blast feeding quarters into pinball machines. Nothing beats the satisfaction of getting a five ball multiball or hitting that jackpot!
