It doesn’t matter how much of an ally someone ‘presents’ themselves as; if they associate with people who want me and my gay brethren dead, I will speak up, as i’ve done all my adult life. Because I’ve lived through gay people being killed in my own city, witnessed beatings, & been beaten. Simple.

No kid should ever have to protest or advocate for their friends’ basic humanity.

But they’re standing up at No Kings anyway.

I was at the the No Kings march in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Many elderly or disabled folks who couldn’t make it to Manhattan, but also young families and people of all ages. I stood in the same spot for more than an hour and the stream of protesters was constant. Amazing turnout.

I was only allowed to teach my “Theater of Protest” class once, but it taught me that a) ppl love doing theater, b) they love doing theater w a purpose in community w others and c) those performances help ppl dream into being a reality of hope and dignity

If you think “No Kings” is not anti-imperial enough, take note. I took a Palestine sign to the first one and while I saw others, I got a lot of engagement from folks. Even if they’re organized by lib normies, these events need NOT be a ceiling. They’re a floor. Go raise the roof at them.

Maybe, but we should be more precise and say the period 2018-19 showed MPs and journos that they can behave as badly as they want and often profit from it, because they are holding all the microphones and that means whatever bullshit they are saying is real, is how it is.
