I don't believe the alleged Musk-Trump rift is real. This is damage control and reality tv phony manufactured drama. I have seen nothing that indicates otherwise. Meanwhile, the BBB is about the worst bill ever and the federal government is still being dismantled.

There are at least 219 federal departments, organizations, agencies, entities plus legislative branch and judiciary. Many haven't been decimated. Some haven't been touched. A shutdown longer than 30 days could destroy 2M Feds and they could legally fire ALL of us that way.

Yes, I was/am one of them (a pro shutdown fed) if you look back at my posts. This is my explanation of WHY he did it despite the massive blowback. He’s a leader & the GOP pays attention to him. He doesn't want them running to find the 1 obscure reg to help the GOP. I'm just a fed admin lawyer geek.

I've got several neighbors in the armed forces (along with many other civilian Feds). I sort of broached one with the whole thing about the military turning on Americans and he comfortingly assured me and said "I won't follow illegal orders. I know no one who would." 🕊️

When I personally called my reps, I asked to speak to their Legislative Assts on Oversight and Gov Affairs and told them about this provision. They were surprised and unaware because it's never been invoked to my or their knowledge. Most staffers were totally unaware of it. 2/2

Totally. I hear you. If you look at my timeline you'll see that I was on board for a shutdown as well. But I did hear mutterings myself on the Hill that the shutdown could've gone months not A month. 1/2
