I only ever saw "Web Riders on the Storm" out of context in a rerun circa 2001? I didn't like the redesigns and the pathos went over my head. Mainframe's turn to doing "action" themed shows like Beast Wars or AcceleRacers never really did it for me.

Tower Records in #Shibuya, #Tokyo just opened a standing bar this weekend on its 6th floor, aka Tower Vinyl. Named Tower Beer, the bar serves imported selections and also offers its own original creations like “City Hop” and “Brit Hop” (see what they did dere?)

I think it works as a disaster flick in the mold of Harmaggedon. It’s interesting that Rintaro went back to this well in Metropolis, which Otomo storyboarded. It’s also really fun to revisit how cel animation at its peak (twighlight?) was compositing with 3D. But yeah, characters & script are weak.

Still annoys me Sony killed Patapon’s team in 2021, and then very briefly held out its corpse with a Patapon movie (possibly game as well) teaser in 2024 with absolutely nothing at all since then in two years.
