Non-fatal shootings dropped by 54% in Southeastern San Diego from 2023 to 2024 The dramatic shift in safety statistics has been welcomed by both law enforcement and community leaders who have been working to address the root causes of violence in the neighborhood.

On the last day of Gun Violence Awareness Month, SD4GVP was pleased to participate at the press conference when Shane Harris, Peoples' Association of Justice Advocates, presented Bishop Bowser with The Key to the Movement award. Shootings are down in SE San Diego. Thank you Bishop Bowser.

Another vote for safety in San Diego! San Diego Unified School District voted on a Resolution for Gun Violence Prevention month that included the the glaring fact that guns are the leading cause of death for children in the US and a commitment to provide gun safety information to parents annually.

June 21 is ASK Day. It's the first day of summer when kids are out and about and visiting friends and family. Remember to ask about unsecured firearms in the homes they visit.

In honor of Wear Orange, SD4GVP hosted a meet-and greet for our community coalition members to remember victims and survivors of gun violence and to rededicate our work together to make San Diego County a safer place for all.

The law will remain in place, reinforcing that gun safety laws that are constitutional and effective can save lives.
