Ozone pollution-triggered damage discovered in Oxford's oaks
Near the surface, ozone isn't the protector we know it as - it's a toxic pollutant for both humans and ecosystems π³
On International Day of Forests, new research from @annaleejones.bsky.social shows that ozone pollution is impacting our own local Wytham Woods π

Our latest paper demonstrates hyperspectral monitoring of ozone damage in mature oak trees. We compared high res leaf reflectance at Wytham Woods (O3 polluted!) and the BIFoR forest, and accurately predicted O3 exposure from leaf reflectance alone via machine learning.π³ π°οΈ
