Basically look for art concepts that could make an interesting style, and then filter that through what is easy and fun for you to do. People don't talk enough about how 60% of art style is just preferred workflow

One of my recent breakthroughs was learning about how over/underexposure hides details. When there is not enough light to give visual information on an area, you don't have to draw any of it! same with too much light that blows out an area

for me the secret is to not accept "the process" in your head. If you are not liking doing it, there is a better way to do it. My biggest help was looking at fundamental concepts either from old masters or artists I love and trying to come up with a way to approximate that the easiest I could
