2 new massive papers on the arXiv:
* "Universal Counterdiabatic Driving" from Morawetz & Polkovnikov arxiv.org/abs/2503.01952
* "Counterdiabatic Driving with Performance Guarantees" from Finลพgar et al arxiv.org/abs/2503.01958
Here's the abstract

Thank you to Chris Corlett, Andrew Daley, Cica Gustiani, Gerard Pelegrรญ and Jonathan Pritchard for all the work!

02.02.2025 20:22 โ ๐ 11 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0Iโve lost the will to be publicly excited about science or engaging with joy and honesty the way I normally do. Iโve sort of lost faith in humanity as a whole. Need to figure out what to do to make it better first.
21.01.2025 17:08 โ ๐ 6 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0WW2 was always taught as this madness that took over Europe, where people did despicable, inhumane things as if lost in a trance. Always seemed weird to me. But I kinda see how it happened now.
21.01.2025 17:06 โ ๐ 6 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Evil people will always exist. Fear and ignorance will always exist. Hell, death and war have always been around, only shifting their battlegrounds. Itโs the rolling over and taking it that I find terrifying.

His proof of Chernoff bound is much more illuminating than the standard algebraic proof I learned.
Phasecraft internship applications are open! Anyone working on quantum info at an early stage (or adjacent fields!) who wants to experience working with a fantastic research team on cutting-edge quantum algorithms is welcome to get in touch :)

We want
- (Wacky) new ideas for variational algorithms
- Honest benchmarks, if you show it don't work, we want it (be thorough)
- Studies on classical simulability
- Power of data in QML
Thank you to everyone and I'll post the links for the papers once they're published! :))
07.01.2025 16:06 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The second is "Speeding up quantum measurement using space-time trade-off", a project I spent a lot of time on & thought would never go anywhere, if it weren't for Chris Corlett and all the wonderful folks at Bristol/Strathclyde who put it together!

The first is "A numerical approach for calculating exact non-adiabatic terms in quantum dynamics", put together with a lot of talent and effort by Ewen Lawrence, a PhD from Strathclyde :)

Dropping in with some good news that two of the last papers from my PhD have recently been accepted to their respective journals, SciPost and PhysRevLett :)))
Many thanks to the hard work of all my collaborators!

Today I was asked in an interview about folks who use the weirdness of โจquantumโจ to hawk pseudoscience junk. I think that kind of grift proliferates because of a big misunderstanding a lot of folks have about quantum mechanics, which is not really their fault!

Thanks! What's the hot topic exactly, is it the QND not being perfect in practice or the fact that dispersive readout is not exactly QND?
