As the laid off Middle East News Editor, I concur. Management eliminated the positions of every single staff correspondent and bureau chief in the Middle East.

The pace at which US wealth concentration is rising is simply staggering

The concentration of AI wealth into the hands of a few tech barons + plutocratic capture ==> unchartered territory

DHS admits it deported more than 80 DACA recipients “Dreamers” who came to the U.S. as children are protected under U.S. law, so deportations of them are unusual.

“The Department of Homeland Security admitted to Congress this month that it deported dozens of unauthorized immigrants who are protected under U.S. law because they were brought as children to the United States, according to a letter made public Thursday.” www.politico.com/news/2026/02...

Last week the city opened $30/hour snow clearing jobs and they filled fast.

Now what if we had a municipal jobs guarantee? Livable wages. Union benefits. Stronger communities.

The petition for a writ of certiorari is denied. JUSTICE
KAGAN would grant the petition for a writ of certiorari.
JUSTICE SOTOMAYOR, with whom JUSTICE JACKSON joins,
dissenting from denial of certiorari.
This case asks whether federal law prohibits the poorest
prisoners from splitting the $350 fee required to file a federal lawsuit when it allows everyone else to do so. The answer statutorily appears to be no. Because the decision below held otherwise and deepened a split among the Courts
of Appeals, the Court should grant the petition for a writ of
certiorari.

Petitioners Topaz Johnson and Ian Henderson were incarcerated at High Desert State Prison in California when
they filed this lawsuit in federal court. According to their
complaint, corrections officers forced them and a third prisoner to stand in filthy cages that reeked of urine and measured 2.5 feet by 2.5 feet. They alleged that the officers
forced them to stand in those cages for nearly nine hours
with their hands cuffed behind their backs.

By a 6–3 vote, SCOTUS refuses to review a judge-made rule that bars indigent prisoners from splitting the filing fee among themselves when filing a federal suit—even though everyone else is allowed to split that fee. These defendants were allegedly tortured. www.supremecourt.gov/orders/court...

For 4 years, Russia sends Iranian drones at Ukraine, up to hundreds per day targeting civilians + critical infrastructure for national survival.

Most of that time we’ve all told them to deal by shooting down every single one instead of attacking RU launch and production sites /1

I guess that makes me qualified to write a thread about them, especially in wake of Trump bombing Iran.

So here goes nothing. 🧵

While we sit around to find out how bad exactly it all is, a bit of cheer: the best baguette of Paris competition was won by a Sri Lankan who appears to have started as a dish washer in restaurants and eventually trained as a Boulanger.

Like at the very bare minimum of humanity to you want people who care and feel the weight of what they do, you want Abraham Lincoln struggling with his view of God and the decisions he makes as President, and the weight of all of it, and it just feels like it’s playing with toys and it’s perverse

X Is Drowning in Disinformation Following US and Israel’s Attack on Iran WIRED has reviewed hundreds of posts on X that promote misleading claims about the locations and scale of the attack.

“Almost all of the most viral posts reviewed by WIRED on Saturday came from accounts with blue check marks, meaning they…could be eligible to earn money based on how much engagement their posts generate, even if the content is false.”

The Twitter fascists don’t understand those they hate.

British Muslims just voted for a working white woman dog-breeder led by a gay Jewish man who defends trans rights.

Meanwhile, the Twitter fascists are accusing Muslims of wanting to ban dogs and force burqas on women.

Trump Has No Plan for the Iranian People The mere act of bombing Iran will not by itself create a stable regime.

The American bombardment of Iran has been launched without explanation, without Congress, without public support. Above all it has been launched without a coherent strategy for the Iranian people, and without a plan to let them build a legitimate Iranian state.

Crazy how Bari Weiss tries to have it both ways. She decries mainstream media for failing standards then she herself violates core journalism ethics by doing biased posts like this attacking Mayor Mamdani. I know she's a Maga-coded pundit, not a journalist but this is still wildly unacceptable.

I'm already sick of "It's all a distraction from Epstein" replies. This regime is killing innocent people because our leaders are all power-hungry tyrants and war profiteers. When you say it's "just a distraction" you minimize the gravity of what's happening and the lives lost.

Honored to be on this call Thursday 3/5 with Sarah Parker and Frank Abe addressing the expansion of concentration camps in the US. There will be historical context, a look at exactly where we're at now, and concrete ideas for how to push back against the threat and build a better country.
