Looking out of a plane window across the wing, there are puffy white clouds in the distance. There is a clear line bisecting the clouds showing hazy smoke on the lower half.

Flying to Toronto from Sweden yesterday the view of Greenland and northern QC was clear and beautiful. Until we hit the forest fire smoke.
It was a huge haze cloud for the last two hours of the flight and as we descended we saw the ceiling of forest fire smoke bisect the clouds.

We also stopped at Neo Coffee and they had green tea and matcha from Uji Japan, the green tea capital, that is both the loveliest town AND has the most amazing concrete architecture train station in the world.

We visited in 2017 and I nearly wept in joy at this gorgeous train station.

Biked over to the St Lawrence Market this morning to finally check out the relatively recently opened new North Market. With the huge side doors open and comfortable spaced aisles it was really lovely.

I know it’s not the original grand vision, but it feels like a good civic space nonetheless.

I was able to join a webinar a few months ago where Daniel talked about the AIDS quilt project(s) which was fascinating.

As a queer who loves to craft, I am really excited for this release next year to read their insights on queer identity through and within craft.

Do you like cheese? I like cheese. Do you like a good story? I like a good story and this is sure to be one.

I had the pleasure of listening to Mike on CBC morning radio in MTL for years and then the joy in watching him discover this next passion and this will be such a delight to read.

Went to the AGO and then for a wander yesterday. Caught some nice shadows.

The folks at @fairvote.ca and @electoralrenewalca.bsky.social have done fantastic work sharing why electoral reform is so important and the idea seems to have more support than ever.

Tomorrow, let’s all call our new MPs and tell them that this truly needs to be the last FPTP election in Canada.

While it seems like we might have lucked out and will be safe from a majority win today of that loathsome small minded man Poilievre and his band of fools. Please let’s make as much noise as we can to @mark-carney.bsky.social that we want to see proper electoral reform going forward. 🤞

For all the things that can be improved in this country, Elections Canada et all have a pretty good system. I have never waited more than 20 minutes in line, usually as today much less, and have never had any issue with or without a voter card to prove or affirm my identify and be able to vote.

I voted. It took me 20 minutes from home and back. I waited behind two other people to be admitted, pet a cute dog, had a lovely chat with the returning officer preparing my ballot and was done.

It took me longer to walk to and from the venue, either direction than to vote.

Oh man, I drove through that riding a few weeks ago and the battle of the lawn signs was a LOT with the Liberals maybe having a slight edge from what I saw.

The way in which I been hoping that this will happen tonight...it would be the best cherry on a defeat cake if it did.

Ohhh To Be Taught, If Fortunate was one of my favourite books I have read in the past few years. I think about it, and how it made me feel, regularly still.
