On average, flying is cheaper than taking the train. About 50%.

Partly because there are less taxes on flights.

Absurd!

2. In the literature, the trial has been used to show that treatment with fluoxetine does not increase suicidality by some, and to show that fluoxetine increases suicide risk by others.

1. ITT vs. actually received treatment: important discussion which still needs to be done for the pediatric antidepressant (TADS) trial regarding rates of treatment emergent suicidality.
Fluoxetine vs. placebo: ITT: 15 vs. 11%, n.s.
Actually treated with fluoxetine: 11% vs. 2.7% (p < 0.02)

Agree. However, they found one significant interaction treatment x sex: a larger drug-placebo difference between men and women on day 2.
HTE? Ore more likely a false positive finding, given there were 4 subscales of the MADRS and 6 time points and no adjustment of alpha

Re-Analysis of three network meta-analyses of fluoxetine for depression in children and adolescents: clarifying efficacy and finding a zombie | RestoRes : Research integrity in biomedical research | O... Richard Lyus, Martin Plöderl and Florian Naudet will present how they discovered that a “zombie trial” can affect network meta-analyses and clinical guidelines on antidepressants for adolescents.

Tomorrow talk (hosted by University of Cambridge/CPFT Lunchtime Psychiatry Seminars) with R. Lyus and @ploederl.bsky.social will explore how a single “zombie” trial can meaningfully influence network meta-analyses and, in turn, shape clinical guidelines on antidepressant use in adolescents.

198 effect sizes in ego depletion resesrch showed an effect size of d=0.62. Preregistered large replications (including some by original authors) yielded an effect size of 0. No one has been able to offer any other explanation for this huge research waste than massive p-hacking.

Sex differences in placebo and antidepressant response to intranasal esketamine for treatment-resistant depression - Molecular Psychiatry Molecular Psychiatry - Sex differences in placebo and antidepressant response to intranasal esketamine for treatment-resistant depression

Precision psychiatry? Study on gender-specific esketamine response. Some gender diffs but irrespective of group (esk/placebo). Only one significant gender x treatment interaction, on a specific day, with a specific outcome: p = 0.02. It did not occur to authors that this is likely a false positive
