Really about deportation, it will expand detention, fuel racial profiling & weaken safeguards. Europe needs dignity, care & solidarity — not punishment & profit at the cost of fundamental rights.
15.09.2025 13:44 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0On #InternationalDayofDemocracy, we must ask: can democracy coexist with the systematic violation of refugee rights ❓
Short answer: No.

23.07.2025 07:38 — 👍 1 🔁 3 💬 0 📌 0The decision of the CM to close the supervision of asylum procedures marks the loss of a critical mechanism of oversight into a defective and dehumanising system, at a time when the right of access to asylum is facing steady political erosion.
23.07.2025 07:38 — 👍 1 🔁 2 💬 1 📌 0These include unstable access to asylum, chronic delays in asylum procedures, frequent technical issues with the online registration platform, the arbitrary use of the 'safe third country' concept, and issues with the effectiveness and accessibility of appeals procedures, among others.
23.07.2025 07:38 — 👍 1 🔁 2 💬 1 📌 0✅ We appreciate the decision of the CM to continue monitoring living and detention conditions, and the lack of effective remedies.
❌We regret, however, the decision to stop monitoring asylum procedures, despite civil society repeatedly warning about serious flaws in Greece’s asylum system.

18.07.2025 07:59 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0On 11 July, the Greek gov adopted a new law suspending asylum processing for 3 months, in addition to ordering the summary arrest, detention and deportation of all new arrivals. These amount to flagrant violations of EU and international law.

🟠 BVMN’s April report is now online.
borderviolence.eu/reports/balk...
With contributions from our member organisations, partners and working groups, this edition covers, among other things:
❌ Minors subject to violence during Croatian pushbacks to Bosnia-Herzegovina
The EU's recent 'safe country' and return proposals appear to be part of a broader strategy to externalise the EU’s migration management.
With 50+ NGOs, we're calling on the EU and member states to reject any attempts to weaken protection for asylum seekers.
💪 It is NOT a moment to be discouraged, however. Rather, now more than ever, Greek and EU officials must recall that seeking asylum is a human right, and must uphold their legal obligations to ensure that all people live in safety and dignity.
20.06.2025 13:57 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Systemic procedural delays, evictions from camps, reduced support from civil society due to funding and capacity cuts as well as hostile legal developments at national and EU level are but a few of the challenges they face.

20.06.2025 13:57 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0The EU wants to expand deportations, including of children.
The new DeportationRegulation fuels detention, criminalization, and digital surveillance.

❗ Rescind the eviction order
❗ Ensure access to safe housing alternatives to prevent destitution & enable access to rights
❗ Implement a sustainable & dignified support & integration framework ensuring suitable accommodation irrespective of legal status
Combined with various issues accessing support outside camps, the order risks exposing various groups to homelessness and destitution, threatening their fundamental rights including human dignity.
