The southern border had been a hotbed of spies and traitors for years. Lysithea would have preferred to clean it up earlier, but vultures always circled the area, under the thin guise of "protecting their own." In an ideal world, the villagers would have proved them wrong, holding firm their allegiances to Ordelia, no matter the tongue they spoke. But their choice, when push came to shove, was kissing the same boots that crushed their compatriots in exchange for a few petty privileges. Very well. If those things thought themselves kin with the vultures, they would be treated as such. "Do hurry up," she told the Sorcery Corps. "We have more to clear before sundown." They'd cross the border if they were allowed to evacuate. Considering the advantage they'd gained in commerce over the past few years, their money would surely go straight to the imperial army. As if Adrestia hadn't robbed Ordelia enough, she thought bitterly, watching her subordinates line the populace up along the river bank, eyes covered, hands above heads. Among these blindfolded creatures, there were only traitors and future traitors. Interrogations? Trials? Luxuries during wartime. Removal was faster. She disliked unnecessary killing, but this was more than necessary. It was logical. Efficient. Saved resources. "All clear," Lysithea called out. Mages struck simultaneously with lightning, resonating down this stretch of the riverbank. Rainbow illuminated droplets from the splash. Carcasses drifted south, towards their true homeland. Another border secured, she thought, as they walked towards the next village.

Out of all the Deer, these are the only two I see ever actually leaving, and Lysithea only in one situation. Leonie, I think, would, could, and should follow Byleth wherever he goes — but that’s just me.
