since removing the demographic categories 3 years ago, the Shogakukan Manga Awards has only awarded ONE shoujosei manga in that time
removing the demographic categories has (and will) only serve to accelerate the erasure of media specifically made by and for women

Yeah I do find it weird when they say that as like you said everyone has different goals. If someone is learning Japanese to read manga and/or play an otome game the learner needs reading abilities not speaking abilities for that activity. Plus not everyone is super extrovert.
