I've seen s1 and started s2 but never finished it. My biggest beef with the new HBO show is tone. I think it is TOO overly serious, esp when Lyra in the books was a relatively funny and mischievous character. But otherwise I think it's good.

I got dragged t othe Dragon Ball Evolution movie and it was just so god awful, but yeah, it really felt like someone who didn't even care about the genre made the movie of Eragon

As an adult I recognize the source material for Eragon is mid af, but allowing the Catholic Church to change your ending for Golden Compass is just outright antithetical to the original point of the damned book.
