Sometimes it’s comforting when the all-knowing algorithms can’t distinguish between the OBVIOUS search I’m in the process of typing and the other search I have no interest in finding the answer to…

Haha yes. Also, tbf — there are many more people who misplayed the SITD worse than her by NOT playing it when they obviously should have… so if the tiers were accounting for all new era players, she’d be far from the worst on that list!

I hear you — and I don’t like that Sydney is above her for MANY reasons — but she’s the only person in the New Era to play it when she wasn’t targeted (other than Matthew and Rachel who had different motivations). I don’t think I can give her a passing grade…

Rachel’s play is my personal favorite SITD moment hands down — but Emily did something I had never thought of or seen discussed before AND got the most utility out of using it the way she did across more than one round of play!

I arrived in this blackout window — which is why I could only visit this one Castaway Island, which has enough of a non-Survivor touristy draw because of the movie Castaway that Survivor cleans it up 100% on the same or next day after whatever special shoot they use it for.

I was told by the locals there’s a “blackout period” of about like 2-4 weeks after filming both seasons, and the Survivor crew cleans everything up at the challenge, camp, and even tribal council locations.

After that blackout period — I actually do think everything is fair game to visit.

Yeah, my bet is it’s been removed — because I know they removed it for at least 42 (it’s almost literally in the “Strunk spot” where Daniel dislocated his shoulder).

There are also a couple signs about it being a protected turtle nesting beach.

Oh, also @truedorktimes.bsky.social that “HELP ME” sign is in the same spot Tom Hanks crafts his sign in the Castaway movie. It’s also the exact spot Survivor 42 has their marooning — so they definitely just take away the rocks for filming and then put the “HM” sign back together afterward.

Other special shoots they’ve used this island for include: Survivor 42’s marooning (the long stretch of beach Steven runs down is the same spot Hai smears blood all over himself) and Jeff’s “39 Days; 20 People; 1 Survivor” from the top of Monuriki to start Millennials v Gen X.

Here’s a photo of me about to dive off the boat and swim to shore (the shallow reef prevents boats from nearing the shore). I’ve also add a boat emoji to the map to show the angle of my photo.

Jeff is 100% correct — 3 years ago I visited Monuriki Island while they were wrapping up filming Survivor 44. I was only able to visit this island because it’s Castaway Island and #Survivor only gets permission to use it for special one day shoots — no camp beaches or regular challenges held here.

If she gets to the FTC with Rizo and Savannah, I think 𝑆𝑎𝑔𝑒 wins.

This was the first season since it was introduced that no Shot in the Darks were played. Do you think that’s more correlated to good, bad or chaotic gameplay this season?
