Roxy Vega might never be mine, but sometimes I found I didn't mind pining for her as much as I should have.

The party was in full swing around us again and I couldn't help but feel a little more like joining in as I watched Roxy walk away from me. She glanced back once and my heart leapt as she offered me the smallest of smiles.

"I want you to feel for me. And I'll take hate if that's all you're offering."

“I don't want you on your knees. I want you fighting me and hating me and fucking me like you mean it. You're Roxanya Vega and you weren't built to bow to anyone.” he growled passionately.

“I can't give up on him, don't you get that? He is everything to me, and the stars stole him away.”

"Then why do it?" I asked. "Why not just look away?"
"I'd find it easier to carve my eyes out than I would to stop them landing on you."

She was so endlessly beautiful, so powerful, so strong.

"Cheerleaders sometimes support a certain player on the field," Darius said as he pushed his hand into his pocket and took out a navy ribbon with the word Fireshield on it. "Will you cheer for me today, Roxy?"

“There are countless people who would say I'm not allowed to want you," Darius breathed. “But you make me want to burn the whole world down so that I can claim you for my own.”
“Then we should burn it down,” I agreed.

“So I won't let you ignore me, Roxy,” he snarled.“I'll have your attention even if I have to take it with- out your permission.”
“Why?” I demanded. “Why not just go after someone else?”
“Because we don't get to choose our obsessions. And you're mine.”

“This is Tory’s doing,” Caleb said knowingly, and Darius nodded.
“Who else?” he said. “My wife has a way of getting what she wants.”

"You fucking idiot," I snapped, "Why the fuck were your eyes open?"
"Because I wasn't going to risk them getting past me to you," he snarled like that was the most obvious thing in the world and I punched him again.
"And what would I do without you?"

“We were impossible once, Darius Acrux. So don’t try to put limitations on what we can or can’t do.”

She was my light when I had been so lost in the dark. She was the mirror she made me face, the truth I needed to see. And still she’d loved me.
