11.06.2025 17:05 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0After wiping out a huge part of the party's magic with a mages disjunction, the players suggested I might never do that again. The rogue lost 100k worth of items. 20 years later an AP I was running called for it, luckily someone counterspelled it.
10.06.2025 17:46 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Give them THE toys every kid wants. Mighty Thor Starter Kit, giant belt, ogre Gauntlets and hammer of thunderbolts. Everyone made a case why their character could use it. The clerics take when not casting could throw it for 4d6. The front liner got it in the end to swing twice per round.
10.06.2025 17:41 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0One thing, I've run as a ruthless capitalist treasure keeper with share including item picks as a player, and run as GM over positively socialist player treasure distribution and never say anything as GM when treasure distribution evolves out of the character personalities organically.
10.06.2025 16:47 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0People were complaining that all of the wotlds in Exodus are assumed to have capitalism and I was wondering about RPG friendly ways to get loot to players outside of treasure hunting.
10.06.2025 16:42 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Scifi still scarcity society with communism as an RPG, players appear on a game show to compete against other adventurers for new equipment as they level.
If you need it more than the other guy, prove it.
Roll off should be between players who will use the item, if you roll for and win a contested item and then sell it, you've just ticked off half the party.
10.06.2025 16:41 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I believe players used to roll off for treasure, when an item came up that more than one player wanted. I believe we did this at the table before MMOs created a similar rollover mechanic.
10.06.2025 16:41 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0How do you split treasure in your games, everything equal shares as a portion of the total, do magic class items count against share?
Does everyone pick an item and sell the rest and split the proceeds?
Does the party fund pay for healing before the split?
So our 300dpi are normally one inch grids for Star Wars minis battles and things that use D20 systems. 25-28mm
Infinity uses 32mm scale i believe and I have to reduce their 3D files to 86% to print terrain my size.
If you're hard core enough, Adobe let's you print large prints as letter sized pieces, I print those on cardstock, trim the edges and stick them to foam core boards with double-sided tape.
I'm hoping to do posters that fold or roll up though.
So with our RPG products we generally sell a 300dpi PDF that comes with a 70dpi Jpeg for VTT use. Some folks report good results out of Bannerbuzz, but we're looking hard at a print run of double-sided posters.

24.05.2025 12:40 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Some wind down stuff for fun. Recently played DOOM TDA, inspired me to do some hefty sci fi gun stuff, type you would see in a good ol old school FPS.
P.S. 'Gun people', i know its stupid and wouldn't work, i dont care, its for fun, chill out.
And to make those inferior goods, forcing longer hours and commutes instead of work from home on a self-determined schedule.
The stockingers could produce their whole contracted weekly commitment in about 35 hours a week, often in 3 12 hour days. The owners wanted 6 12 hour days a week.
While we're at it, have some Starfinder 2e Alien Core previews!!!
Whale! Whale! Whale! Whale! Whale!
I'm thinking about transparent piece of set dressing like a sabbac discard pile and some credits might be cool. Then the VTT people could put sabbac or dejarik games on any table they wanted to.

Games UX Research Tip:
Perception is both bottom up (driven by stimuli in the world) and top down (driven by player cognition)
The upshot of this, when combined with the scanning nature of vision, what players see can be more about what they expect to see than what is actually shown to them
