I don't think ur ignorant, this topic is hardly something that is as simple as one would like tho and scientists thenselves often ask themselves more and more questions each day. For me personally it's quantum theories that really mess with my head and are hard to dissect what is accurate

What I always find pretty funny is the thought of the power that cosmic radiation can have on our day to day equipment, like bit flips doing silly things to our computer, could have very well been a reason it crashed for no apparent reason before cx
or sun storms messing with em on a scarier level

and ultimately when he proposed at one point after he did so much research on working out black holes existence and how they would exist and work, when he said black holes don't exist, he seemed to have been wrong about it but it always does spark a certain sense of flipping perspectives

Einstein himself often wasn't happy with his own conclusions, so I think it's often irrelevant what we want out of science we gotta be vigilant in the way that we approach it to accurately describe and explore it, there is fun to be had in breaking out of the norm sometimes tho like hawking has done

corrected or added to, so saying things in science constantly change over time or are never quite set in stone from my pov aren't really scientific either because they always hold a significant piece of the grander puzzle that we need to consider to understand it

From my way of seeing it though it's also very wrong to say that these scientists were all completely washed away from modern fundamentals, most of what we have now ARE advancement built on what was already established a long time ago it's in the details that there's still errors or things yet to be

For me it's rather how can we get around the cosmic speed limit which is honestly a better way to describe this than speed of light,
like with mentioning Neutrinos there is always an offchance of a particle that simply doesn't affect matter in an observable way that could just be bit faster but shy

oh yea i forgor, there are particles that reach this speed, Neutrinos are extremely close to photons just shy of a statistically negligeble amount slower, again the question for me personally isn't about light at all, because the speed of light imo isn't about light itself

if u really wanna get into it don't let urself be caught up by the Dunning-Krüger Effect which I think a lot of ppl let themselves be taken by

with the experiment bcuz light reflecting from ur eyes into it changes the energy level inside the experiment, not because u are consciously observing it but because photons are reflecting off your retina and into the chamber which is enough energy change to effect the whole experiment

one thing to remember is it's certainly not a simple topic and a lot of things have to fit into the clockwork to work there is many things that people often easily misinterpret like the slit experiment, where it's said observing something changes it's state, which is only true cuz its messing

the things that make all of this so difficult too is that the closer u get to speed of light the more time slows down around u meaning at one point time would in theory reverse if u were to push past that point (they do that is scifi all the time, like with flash) creating timetravel conundrums

something that is feasible with technology not too far into the future

well I didn't say infinite energy can't exist i said it would be needed to push something heavier to that speed, I agree that u should never be arrogant in sense that there can't be something else but also imo, it's really unlikely or rather makes more sense thinking about bending spacetime instead

so accelerating any particle that isn't practically massless like photons to lightspeed is impossible cuz the energy needed for it would be infinite, u could realistically reach a significant fraction of the speed of light but never fully so

what i mean with causality is there has to necessarily be an upper limit to speed in the universe or everything would interact with everything in the same moment breaking reality apart, it's like saying a word and everyone can hear and react to it at the same time.

I don't think so, since it's not the speed of light per se it's the speed of causality in a sense, light is the fastest cuz it virtually has no mass allowing it to go as fast as possible it's a bit complicated but I think bending spacetime is the only way to get faster than light.
