Everyone knows that the best proof of superpower status is when another country dictates your foreign policy. MAGA!

I also don't think we should implement anything unless Washington does it too, it would be insane for people who live in Oregon and Work in Vancouver or vice versa to have to change their clocks twice a day.

I agree that what we want is permanent daylight time. Oregon passed it in 2019 but we can't implement it without congress. I believe the push for permanent standard time was because we don't need congresses approval to implement it.

Oregon already passed permanent Daylight Savings time, the US congress continues to refuse to allow us to implement it.

Yeah, looking at the Portland maps it looks like they were getting pressured by the city, and I heard today that they have sold the property. I just don't see any reason why zoning should not allow what they were doing across the street from a sports bar but they were technically in violation.

I hear they are selling the building, still hoping for a reopening somewhere else nearby.

I am hoping to hear that they are moving to another location but my guess is that this may be the end for them.

I would have to dig around to find it but when I lived in Corvallis I learned about their responsibility to do so because I lived on a corner that was one of the top 10 collision sites in Corvallis and I was constantly having to sweep up glass.

Did you know that Oregon tow truck drivers are legally required to pick up the mess when they tow a vehicle after a collision, at least all the bits and glass and such. It may be the most underenforced law in the state.

It's bizarre man, I don't know what is driving it but spots are being removed all over the city and you rarely see a new one going in. This restaurant has been operating for like 5 years but from Portland Maps it seems like the city is making them tear it out.

Comes on the heels of covered seating areas at the food carts located at Cully and Prescott being removed.

Sadly I believe the city of Portland has used zoning rules to destroy another outdoor eating space in our Neighborhood. www.pdxmonthly.com/eat-and-drin... I thought they had worked out the compliance issues years ago but it appears that the city is forcing them to tear it down.

This is what I need cis folks to understand.

It's been a decade.

Imagine living TEN FUCKING YEARS watching as a blatant, artificial campaign to erase your personhood, your identity and your safety chugs along, increasing in power every single day, and most people don't care or dismiss it

I once made the mistake of ordering nachos in a sportsbar in Wagga Wagga Australia. I am fairly certain the chef had seen a photo of nachos but never eaten them. It was corn chips with ragu spaghetti sauce and mascarpone cheese.

We need a full time, year round government, it is far too easy for a small minority to just run out the clock on a short session.

I listened to this podcast awhile back and it brought back some memories of just how openly out and about nazis were in the Portland music scene in the mid 90s. The woman who sued the Aryan Nations out of existence made the pacific northwest a much safer place at least for awhile.

Seems like an easy decision on the giveaway then... There are only so many viable media markets it won't take that many cities saying no to massive subsidies to put an end to the practice, Portland should take the lead.

If local government is going to pay to upgrade the stadium then they ought to own the team, because whoever owns the team is the one who should be paying to make upgrades that they believe are a good business investment that will lead to higher profits.

Any Portland folks want to get really into Australia Rules Football with me this year? I got kind of into it like 20 years ago, haven't watched in a bit, but am considering getting the streaming package but want some folks to watch with. Hit me up if you are interested.

The U.S. currently has more prisoners and a more sophisticated system of concentration camps than Nazi Germany had on the eve of World War II in 1939
