A happy dog bounced out of the cottage door just as the morning mist was lifting off the bog. His tail wagged so hard it wiggled his whole back end. This was his favorite time of day daily exercise time! The bog stretched wide and wild, dotted with soft moss, twisty grasses, and little pools that reflected the sky like shiny mirrors. The air smelled earthy and fresh. The dog took one big sniff, sneezed dramatically, and then zoomed off like a furry rocket. He leaped over puddles (okay… splashed through most of them), sending tiny droplets everywhere. Birds fluttered up from the reeds as he trotted past, ears flapping like happy flags. Every stick he found was clearly the best stick ever, at least until he found the next one. Sometimes the ground went squish-squish under his paws, and he slowed down, stepping carefully. Then he’d spot a butterfly or hear a rustle in the grass and forget all about being careful. Off he went again, full speed, tongue lolling, eyes bright with pure joy. Halfway through his adventure, he stopped on a little dry hill. He stood tall, chest puffed out, looking over his bog kingdom. A breeze ruffled his fur. He felt strong, fast, and very important. Then he sat down suddenly because he was also a little tired. After a short rest (and a dramatic flop onto his side), he rolled onto his back and wriggled around in the grass, paws in the air, as if the sky itself was giving him belly rubs. When he finally trotted home, muddy, wet, and proud, his daily exercise was complete. His legs were wobbly, his heart was happy, and his tail still wagged just a bit slower now. Best. Day. What you’re seeing isn’t random chaos it’s trees shaped by years of environmental stress, and they’ve basically grown sideways to survive.
