I’m not versed in the details. But the joke appears to be that—because Hoyo pulled from their company’s other dev teams, had to rush out changes, and scrambled to fix or scrap some plans—their new build scrabbled together anything they could find that worked.

I think it’s alluding to their release date issues. HSR had to greatly delay its 4.0 release, due to the political climate between China and Japan; its focus in the new update was a Tokyo-like world, and some of the depictions and story plans apparently further inflamed tensions.

The perfect use of CGI is still Davy Jones in “Pirates,” dinosaurs in the original “Jurassic Park,” and Gandalf and the Balrog in LOTR. Clever window-dressing: miniatures, costumes, and animatronics where necessary. I will accept literally no other answer.

One of my fervent, deeply-held beliefs is that Hollywood always focuses on the wrong thing with their CGI budgets. Need a helmet? Nanobot reveal! Need to apparate? Fly around in plumes of white or black smoke, to delineate moral alignment. Sea siren? How about a rock monster? 😵‍💫

Oh no, no, no: perverts are the only real ones, though. Really. Let’s be honest. (Also, I once almost took off some guy’s chin with stubble: that stuff is dangerously scratchy! Poor D!)
