Felt frustrated at the generic nature of the lyrics (very committed to *genre*, bordering on vague) yet also found myself moved to tears 4. Intrigued by this contradiction (wanting to earn the right to my snobbery), I set myself a 24-hour EP-writing challenge where I would impersonate an indie folk robot 5. Asked her for five generic indie folk song titles 6. Wrote as fast as I could, saying the next right thing in simple words
and images. My favorite title prompt was “Mountain Memories”, I directed all of my choices towards a cheerful nostalgia 7. Realized that everything I’d written was true to my own life; committing to an emotional outcome for the sake of the *genre* had taken some of the pressure off of my personal vulnerability, and Move Mountains became my most fearlessly joyful song yet 💚
