I hate when they take away things you were just starting to really enjoy, like your favorite TV show or democracy.

On the VPN question, the department is suggesting that if someone uses a VPN to sign up, then the platforms would be expected to check their posts on social media to see if they're actually based where the VPN says they are.

It's clear ABC Australia & ABC News mgmt is actively ignoring audience feedback:
• most program Twitter accounts were closed so public (and program-specific) feedback is discouraged
• complaints to the ABC are 'acknowledged' yet there's no apology or change.
• respected hosts are sacked. 😔 #ourABC?

Not sure I've seen a bill more ill-thought through, and designed under the knowledge it is unworkable just because a govt is too weak to make a case against it because it is scared by FM stations and dying news.corp papers
