I have seen a lot of cursed stuff in my time in academia but this is among the *most* cursed.
Grammarly is generating miniature LLMs based on academic work so that users can have their writing β€˜reviewed’ by experts like David Abulafia, who died less than two months ago.

I was feeling so anxious I thought I might explode so I went a laid in a sunbeam, but that made my migraine worse so I closed the curtains and turned off the overhead light, but then I got anxious so I laid in a sunbeam, but that made my migraine worse so.....

1. This is despicably evil.
2. This needs to be fought at every level. There is no world in which this cannot be considered cruel and unusual punishment.
3. Those behind this effort need to be exposed and never know a moments peace.

I've seen enough. Clearly this experiment is working. It is time for a Michael C. Jordan.

Oh! And salt makes you look puffy. I remember reading a magazine article about under-eye puffiness and it saying to reduce salt intake (I want to say it was Seventeen or Glamour, from like 2007ish)

Too much salt = heart attack. That being said, my parents are really worried about me not getting /enough/ salt because a neighbors's son had to be hospitalized after only eating rice crispies for like, a college semester. So I guess the claim is that there's a perfect sweet spot of salt intake.

we were probably all up last night staring at the ceiling with our own version of the same thought running on endless loop, but mine looked something like this:

I hate these people to a degree that feels simultaneously corrosive to the soul, and also the only righteous response to this kind of evil

Additionally, I want to speak directly to Iranian New Yorkers: you are part of the fabric of this city β€” you are our neighbors, small business owners, students, artists, workers, and community leaders.Β You will be safe here.

The first deaths announced from the US-Israeli strikes on Iran: dozens of school girls. They hit an elementary school in Hormozgan.

If you are younger than 83, you have never seen the US drop a single bomb as a formally declared act of war according to its constitution.

Fun fact: the US has been at continual war since 1945 and *not a single one of these wars*, from the Korean War to Vietnam to Iraq to Iraq again, was ever declared war by Congress.

The last time the US Congress declared war was 1942. 83 years ago.

Western lives are just numbers to these monsters. Iranian lives aren't even that.

No war with Iran - turn it inward on the pedophile owning class.

Re: nonfiction: Speculative nonfiction is a genre I'm newly interested in, and I can't get enough of it.
I like memoir, but I'm specifically looking for "well researched grad thesis pretending to be a memoir" (Better by Arianna Rebolini is my go-to example).

Happy #MSWL day to all who celebrate

I'm also expressly looking for queer and trans narratives, stories by Palestinian authors, and weird/quirky books (a la Bunny by Mona Awad, Skydaddy by Kate Folk, My Death by Lisa Tuttle, etc) #mswl

the "just asking questions" to "legitimate questions about fairness in sports" to "the state doesn't have to consider us as real people" pipeline working exactly as designed.

I'm no lawyer, no expert on how this will go, I'm just heartbroken and angry and so tired. I spend a lot of time and energy trying to not linger on feelings like this and instead do things that are helpful--and I will keep doing that. But right now I'm just wailing pathetically, about everything.

The news from Kansas has me crying this morning, bc every fix being worked on right now just sounds like buying trans people time until a court upholds the law or the republicans re-write it to be more constitutional (or w/e). I know I sound very doomer rn, but I'm so tired of having to buy time.

it's all just art. "porn" is just art that makes you horny, in precisely the way that "horror" is art that makes you scared and "metroidvania" is art that makes you write video essays
