OpenAI started as a nonprofit with a declaration of admirable ethica, moral standards ("for the benefit of humanity" was part of it -- going merely from memory). Then the leader, Sam Altman, rescinded that. Anthropic was started as a result.

That difference continued this week w/ Hegseth's demand.

Why is this guy -- whom most of us never heard of before the last few days -- suddenly in interviews everywhere?

Canceled Election The presidential election cannot be canceled β€” the Constitution requires that presidential elections take place this year.

No one, not even the president, can cancel the presidential election. Congress set the current date for presidential elections in 1845 and it has been held on this date every four years β€” even through the Civil War and two world wars – for over 175 years.

I forgot one thing: Greed. He wants to turn Gaza into a Middle East resort, and having the threat that Iran poses nearby doesn't fit with that plan.

A big part of the authoritarian playbook is war. War takes over the news. War blots out criticism. War divides a nation’s people, subjecting those against it to being called unpatriotic. War grants leaders all sorts of emergency powers. War consumes everything else.

We mustn’t let this war do so.

His motivation is merely his addiction to flattery (Israel, Saudi Arabia this time) and power, nothing rational nor about policy. And why put America first when he could rule the world?

Venezuela, then Iran. Is North Korea or Russia next? Just imagine....

Unfortunately, capturing and killing world leaders doesn’t do much for us here at home.

Snowberries came before and are still on the bush in my yard. I planted blueberries and strawberries at different times to prolong the eating season. The latter aren't native but are essential, to me.

Congress must return immediately and vote to put an end to this war.

Every Senator should be on the recordβ€”the American people deserve to know which of their leaders supports another potentially bloody and costly war in the Middle East.

No war with Iran.

The hypothetical nuclear attack that escalated the Pentagon’s showdown with Anthropic Start-up Anthropic and the U.S. military are careening toward a clash over government use of artificial intelligence β€” and whether it should be allowed to kill.

Different info and details than other reports about the standoff and split today. Anthropic split from OpenAI over ethics, values, morals, so I hope they stand their ground.

And just "hand over" their tech to Trump and Hegseth? Ha!

OpenAI says they're willing to go along?

"The US experienced a chemical accident that harmed humans or the environment every other day on average between 2004-2025."

Bipartisan Wildlife & Habitats Bill (HB 4134) Passes the Oregon House - Oregon Wild Vote of 36 to 22 moves the bill to the Oregon Senate.

Good model to follow.

"HB 4134 would modestly increase Oregon’s statewide lodging tax.... An economic analysis found that... could actually boost outdoor recreation spending in Oregon by improving visitor experiences and protecting iconic wildlife and landscapes."

Our Garden for Birds initiative helps you welcome birds into your outdoor space using native plants. Habitat loss is the #1 threat facing birds & we can do something about it. You don't have to have a yard, even just adding a native plant to a pot can help: www.gardenforbirds.org
