I honed my discourse skills at a fine arts college where they didn't treat ANY commercial art with respect. illustration? no. animation? definitely not. game design? don't make me laugh

I think "is it art" doesn't matter to the average consumer at all

whether or not something is art doesn't matter if nobody buys it, i guess

we want games to be taken more seriously and treated with the same veneration as novels and fine art but at the same time we are incapable of convincing gamers/consumers that games can be anything other than commercial goods

the only thing i have to say regarding "are games art" is that no matter how often we argue with each other about what a game is/what makes them special, we are never getting out of the hole where they're judged and discussed as products rather than pieces of culture

Israel destroyed a Palestinian seed bank today. This is such a specific kind of evil, targeting literal hope for the future. Attempting to further alienate Palestinians from their home and land. So much destroyed just for the sake of destroying. It's awful.
