Thirteen months ago I posted a long distance letter to an acquaintance in St. Petersburg; two days ago six cloaked men arrived at my door to inform me that I'd been his closest relation they could find, and handed me his revolver and a dog's tooth.

Surreptitiously ended up on a transatlantic voyage with my second-stepcousin who is hopelessly in love with me for reasons I will never understand and another passenger has thrown themselves into the night seas of Gibraltar...

hired to write the funeral invitation calligraphy for a young man who died after a duel and his distant cousin claims that he'd witnessed him walking on air when they were boys one summer in the countryside

Purified in the cleanse of high fever my mind temporarily attains clairvoyance and I witness my cousin buying me a jumbo eraser for Christmas.

meanwhile I'm out here as an intern at the newspaper that just got firebombed and my mentor the crossword puzzle guy got hurt and has decided in his half madness that the spirit of the burned possess him...

Visited UBC's entomology department yesterday and they let me browse the stacks! An unbelievable privilege and a deliriously happy experience to go through the lepidoptera specimens.
