For me (so far) one thing that jumps out about 2001 is that it's a big year for ambient/downtempo/"lo-fi chill beats to study to" (Air, Zero 7 etc. etc.).

Well the #10 seed won it all in 1999, upsets do happen.

One example - I just listened to the Prefuse 73 and thought it was pretty cool. Gave it a seed vote since it’s unique and is likely to have a lower seed to begin with. Every bit helps!
