Readeck is great, if you don't mind self-hosting. I believe they are working on a hosted version.

A few trees wouldn't go amiss.

31.01.2025 22:21 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0The first series was OK. I struggled to the third and gave up.

23.01.2025 23:19 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I'm assuming this was exempt accomodation. Would be nice if the local authority could claw back some of that 'support' money.
21.01.2025 16:54 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0The people that hold the debt: pension funds, insurers, banks, other countries.
15.01.2025 12:36 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Exactly. We are not in a good situation. If there were to be a big economic shock - we'll be in serious trouble.
15.01.2025 09:30 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0But you are right, something has to give. Governments either have to spend less, pay down the debt and live within their means - or grow their economies, reducing the need for borrowing and the ratio of debt to gdp.
15.01.2025 09:10 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0The cost of servicing the debt matters more than the size (but lower is better). Japan, for example, has an enormous debt to gdp ratio (217%) - but the cost of servicing that debt is low because investors have confidence in their economy. UK has large debt and large servicing costs. Not good.
15.01.2025 09:07 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 3 📌 0The government borrows money by issuing bonds (gilts), basically long-term IOUs (give me x money now and I'll give you back X + X% in the future). The debt - outstanding gilts -is owned by a lot of folk: pension funds, foreign governments, banks, insurance companies. It is worryingly high.
14.01.2025 23:13 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I've just finished episode 7. I'm going to hold out and binge watch the last 3 in one.
Fabulous series so far.
What a delightfully odd video. Made even more strange by not being able to understand a word of it. 🤣
13.01.2025 22:31 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Added electricity monitoring to #homeassistant. Now frantically turning everything off.
12.01.2025 20:17 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Hadley Freeman is, as usual, succinct and pointedly excellent at the end there. What a mess.
07.01.2025 23:16 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Alas, it is people that make social media suck. The more you have, the more it sucks.
07.01.2025 18:00 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Rooting for plagues isn’t pragmatic - or kind. Maybe try ‘Petty Vegan’ instead?

31.12.2024 23:25 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0All I can say is that it works well. I expose most items to HomeKit (through HA) because that’s what the family are more comfortable using, but HomeAssistant itself is extremely powerful. A zigbee adapter makes it infinitely more useful.
29.12.2024 09:14 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0These are great. I’ve got a few of them dotted around to turn off groups of lamps. IKEAs zigbee plugs are good too.
29.12.2024 08:58 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I beg to differ.
22.12.2024 12:09 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I always thought that ID cards were a reasonable idea, but people get VERY het up about them.
11.12.2024 19:44 — 👍 6 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0Is.. that wierd?
11.12.2024 19:37 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I think it's because we've ended up in this wierd twilight zone where the end that connects to your device is routinely USB-C, but the other end is USB-A.
11.12.2024 13:32 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Owen Jones winds me up like no other!
08.12.2024 00:24 — 👍 6 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0It’s everyone. The Guardian is just as bad, especially the opinion columns. I’ve had to stop reading.
