Remarkable that more than 50 writers from across Europe have already booked to join us in Madrid this September.
This means almost half sold in under a week of sales.
This is happening next week! Join @susannacrossman.bsky.social and writers from across Europe to think about place in writing and read some fantastic texts to inspire new thought.

Hoping to finish this today. Itβs been on my shelf for a long time (years?) and is unexpectedly wonderful. I thought it would be different from his other work, but didnβt realise it was such a meditation on a diverse range of art and artists, and on the intangible sense of the nebulous within them.
01.03.2026 11:08 β π 5 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0It sounds wonderful and ideal for such times, thank you! I did try to read Baron Wenckheim but did not manage to finish. Should I still try this?

01.03.2026 10:24 β π 5 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Ah, yes, that's fantastic. We read it for our book club a few months ago - although it did divide opinion....

Friends, what are you reading today? Do you have enjoyable Sunday plans to chase away the weltschmerz?
I (Deborah) am reading this. What a delight it is. Then later I'm meeting friends for lunch, followed by an online writing course. Wishing you all a lovely Sunday β¨οΈ

Weβre delighted to be joined this year by Yael van der Wouden. Yaelβs debut novel, The Safekeep, was shortlisted for the Booker Prize 2024. It won the 2026 Womenβs Prize and was longlisted for the Dylan Thomas Prize, the Wingate Prize and the Walter Scott Prize for Historical Fiction.

The event will take place in different venues, so you wonβt have a static experience, and will come away with a sense of the city and what it is like to live and write there.
Our programme is diverse, and the weekend is yours to shape.
We hope to be joined by around 120 writers from across Europe and beyond. All are welcome.
The weekend will include writing workshops, touring Madrid, hearing from outstanding writers and thinkers, and meeting people over delicious food and drinks.
'Overall it was the feeling of belonging - of finding myself in physical and metaphorical rooms filled with people who not only also love writing but who are straddling several cultures and languages and making a home for themselves often far from their place of origin. That was tremendously moving'
27.02.2026 11:29 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0'The overall atmosphere - absence of ego, presence of generosity, curiosity, authenticity. Connecting with so many wonderful people. The extraordinary keynote panel - I was so impressed by all three members; I nearly cried through the whole thing, it was so powerful to be there!'

If youβve joined us before, youβll know: European Writers salon is unlike any literary event youβve been to. It isn't a conference. It's a weekend of creativity, surprise and community.
Below are some quotes from attendees last year...
I would love for you to come and write and think about clothes with me.
We shall read and write many beautiful things β¨οΈ
