I believe it has more to do with how Trump an Vance want to use various groups of people to blame for alleged problems our country is facing. His tactics in general, i.e. The Big Lie, demanding unconditional loyalty, and other behaviors that are reminiscent of Hitler and Fascism.
Just my opinion.
