Not to get too Pollyanna-ish, shit’s still bad, but it’s an indicator that Columbia, the poster child for capitulation, has issued pretty strong statements about ICE on its campus. The admin no longer appears invulnerable.

It’s definitely the responsible choice. But as a cartoon character, I am curious what they’d do if given a stick of dynamite to blow themselves up Looney Tune’s style.

in hindsight ashley graham had no reason to fear that the president's child failing an introductory college government course might constitute a minor scandal. now it's just an accepted fact about the president himself.

(As always, Mishima did it better by focusing on the intentionality of the violence coupled with (arguably) incomplete understanding of what it MEANS)

I legit forgot a lot of the dialog and specifics of that scene but I know the chapter about the costal people ends with our two mains and one other just watching a fish they're going to eat die instead of... you know, killing it.

Big Calender doesn't want you to know that February is in fact longer than other months. They're suppressing the truth. They're coming for me right now.

A ship in harbor is safe. But that's not what ships are built for. Actually many ships are built just to be in harbor, such as tug boats. So take risks and get out there. Except if you're a tugboat, in which case you've made a terrible decision and placed yourself somewhere you shouldn't be.

Idk KILL BILL did it better, folks. The fish story there was actually thematic and related to the accidental violence young children can get up to.

There's just a massive difference in how the book wants to come off, what the fans of the book say they love about it, and that scene. But hey the robot learned... something so its ok? Love my "cozy sci fi".

Just remembered the scene in MONK & ROBOT where our cast watches a fish they fished out of the ocean just suffocate as a lesson about like life or cycles or some such, and man I'm so glad this "balm for our times" exists. Love to see cozy sci fi that involves the most cruel method of animal killing.

Its darkly amusing that Ellison is attempting to make his companies in the same vein as the Daily Wire when the Daily Wire only exists due to outside funding.

This is also while the figures on there are waning in influence.

living through an actual personalist regime makes me feel like I owe some apologies to the plot of Starcraft 2. it really is this stupid and ham-handed.

one of the delights of being married to a science journalist is that you get to overhear questions like "so tell me about the vampire bats" and "does chlamydia mostly spread in koalas through sexual contact?"

I think we can interpret this to mean that they're either planning to attack Iran before Rubio arrives in Israel, while he's in Israel, or after he leaves Israel.

The bastards at Disney refused to greenlight this innovative Lion King spinoff because they lack imagination and are stuck in the past.
